How to join the chat

In the browser: chat.scharni.org

Or as an app:

  1. Install Element or FluffyChat (phone or computer).
  2. Choose the server scharni.org.
  3. Tap "Continue with Authentik" and log in with your house account.
From outside into the house network (VPN)

For members of the VPN group: ask the household's admins.

  1. Install the Tailscale app (phone or computer).
  2. In the app, choose an alternate server and enter https://vpn.scharni.org (step by step: Apple, Windows).
  3. Log in with your house account. While the VPN is on, everything under "Only at home" works.
Got an invitation?

Open the link from the invitation, choose a username and a password, set up a passkey: done. The same account works for the cloud and the chat.

What is a passkey?

Your phone or computer keeps a key for the house login; you confirm with your face, finger or PIN. Nothing to remember, nothing to type.

Set up a passkey Authenticator app instead

KeePassDX: turn on "User verification" in the ⋮ menu of the unlock screen first, or it refuses the passkey.
